This is a review of The EPPP Secrets Study Guide. The study guide is published by MoMetrix Media, a publishing company with a wealth of experience publishing professional exam study guides.

This study guide provides a wealth of information on test preparation strategies. It describes how to plan for, and actually study, for the EPPP examination. The EPPP Secrets Study Guide provides a good overview of the key concepts covered by the Examination for Professional Practice in Psychology.

The EPPP Secrets Study Guide includes 186 pages of concisely worded material. The study guide contains no long winded narratives or fluff. The study materials include the Five Study Secret Keys, General Strategies, and the Top 20 Test Taking Tips. These are followed by sections covering the key terms of each of the major domains on the EPPP exam. At the end of the study guide is an EPPP practice test. The practice test includes an answer key and explanations.

Rounding out the study guide, is a nice extra. A link to 4 free bonus guides is included. The bonus guides can be read online, or downloaded and printed out for reference. They include:
  • Study Secrets (89 pages)
  • How To Overcome Test Anxiety (14 pages)
  • What Your Test Score Can Tell You About Your IQ (3 pages)
  • Should You Retake Your Test (3 pages)
For the low price of $69.99 the EPPP Secrets Study Guide is an incredible value. Compared to the high cost of other commercially available EPPP study materials, the price is truly exceptionally low.

The EPPP Secrets Study Guide is available for instant download for those of you who want to start studying now, and also in hard copy form which they will mail to you.

I recommend the EPPP Secrets Study Guide. You really can't go wrong because it has a 100% money back guarantee. If for any reason you don't like it, you can return it and get your money back. For my money, any EPPP study materials that might give you even a small score increase on the Examination for Professional Practice in Psychology are well worth it.

Overcome EPPP Exam Procrastination with THE NOW HABIT

Overcome EPPP Exam study procrastination with THE NOW HABIT by Neil Fiore, Ph.D.

Are you tired of struggling with what seems to be an overwhelming study project with no end?
  • Do you resent the time you put into studying for the EPPP exam?
  • Do you procrastinate sitting down and studying even though you've blocked out a schedule of study times?
  • Are you angry that they are making you take the EPPP exam to qualify for your psychology license?
  • Do you feel guilty when you go out with your friends, relax, or otherwise have fun instead of studying?
  • Do you feel like all of your time should be spent reviewing EPPP study materials?
Help is at hand! The Now Habit by Neil Fiore, Ph.D. is the answer to all your procrastination, resentment, and study time problems.

Dr. Neil Fiore, a counseling psychologist, developed many of his anti-procrastination strategies while coaching students who were struggling with completing a similar project—completing their dissertation. In this compelling and enjoyable book, Dr. Fiore spells out nothing less than a complete paradigm shift in how to approach work and play. His techniques are particularly applicable to those working on long, difficult projects such as preparing for the EPPP exam.

Using strategies grounded in positive psychology techniques he explains:
  • Why procrastination is an adaptive strategy and how it maintains itself.
  • How to create an Unschedule that motivates you to want to study!
  • Why pressuring yourself to study and prepare is counterproductive.
  • Why all work and no play makes Jack (or Jill) a dull boy (girl), who resists working on the goals that are most important to him/her.
  • Why being a workaholic (or in this case a "studyaholic") won't help you succeed at completing important projects like preparing for the EPPP exam.
  • How to use reverse psychology to make you want to study.
I can honestly say that this is the best book I have ever read on how to joyfully accomplish important goals, work, and study while enjoying your life at the same time. Print, Kindle, and audiobook versions are available. I particularly recommend the audio versions as the psychological and emotional impact of the concepts comes through more clearly when spoken aloud.

Have you read the book? Let us know what you thought of it in the comments below.

When To Begin Studying For The EPPP Exam: Part 4

Top Ten Tips For Beginning EPPP Exam Preparation Now

  1. The best approach to taking and passing the crucial EPPP examination is to start studying early. This is so important that I'm going to say it again. Start studying early! Be an early preparer. Leave the gate early, and get out in front of the pack.
  2. Educate yourself about the EPPP examination. Visit the ASPPB's site to read about the test. Take particular notice of the psychology content areas covered on the EPPP exam that you are expected to know and understand.
  3. Get your hands on some of the major study programs available for the EPPP examination. Borrow them from a friend that no longer needs them. Buy used materials online. Send for free study materials that test preparation sites offer. If you can afford it, buy your own copy of a test preparation program.
  4. Buy some of the less expensive EPPP exam study guides, test preparation software, flashcards, flashcard software that are available. Read through the materials. Test yourself. See how you do. Identify the content areas in which you need to improve.
  5. Visit the discussion groups available online to get a first person idea of what preparing for the EPPP exam is really like. Start forming supportive relationships with those who are already studying. One helpful group is the Preparing To Take The EPPP Discussion List.
  6. Take advantage of the wealth of free information and advice available online at EPPP preparation sites such as How To Pass The EPPP Exam Without Even Trying!
  7. Use a software program to optimize your learning and to maintain your memory of what you have learned. One of the best is the SuperMemo program. This program will keep the material that you learn fresh in your mind indefinitely. Such programs help with memorizing flashcards, as well as complete topics.
  8. Learn everything you can about test-taking strategies. Particularly learn test-taking strategies for multiple choice exams. There are quite a few strategies that can help you become a better performing test taker. This knowledge will also help you in your graduate school classes.
  9. Learn and practice good study strategies and habits. Sure, you may be able to cram for tests and pass them for some of your classes, but that will never work in passing the EPPP exam. The EPPP examination is a marathon, not a sprint. There is way too much material to cover in a short time. You need to learn how to study consistently, and how to retain the material. This knowledge, also will benefit your graduate studies. There are general study strategy sites, and sites specific to the EPPP exam. Both offer helpful advice on study strategies. There are many books available on this topic that are well worth buying.
  10. Learn to control your mental state as regards studying. This includes: learning how to control your stress levels, how to talk positively to yourself about your preparation, maintaining concentration and attention, and how to stick with studying for the long term without becoming discouraged. It means learning to keep your anxiety levels reasonable while studying, and during the actual EPPP examination. It means doing what you can physically to maximize your performance: eating properly, getting sufficient sleep, taking rest breaks, breathing deeply, stretching, and exercising. Look to online resources on general study strategy sites and sites specifically on preparing for the EPPP exam.
I hope that you have found this article helpful and informative. Most of all, I hope that if you are planning to sit for the EPPP examination that you will start preparing now!

EPPP Exam Memorization Techniques

Today on How To Pass The EPPP Exam Without Even Trying! we are going to discuss the important topic of memorization. The Examination for Professional Practice in Psychology tests you on a broad array of content from diverse domains in psychology. To perform well on the exam requires an understanding of the content, as well as the ability to remember the content. It is important for you to understand that neither understanding of the psychology concepts alone, nor straight memorization of the the psychology concepts alone, are sufficient to pass the exam. To pass the exam one must understand and remember the concepts.

Understand EPPP Test Content
If you have graduated, or are soon to graduate, from an accredited graduate program in psychology, you probably already understand most of the concepts covered by the EPPP test. You should still, of course, thoroughly review all the topics that are likely to be covered by the test. Be sure that you understand the key concepts in each domain. These include, for example; statistical concepts, main theorists, major theories, definitions of key terms, commonly known statistics about key topics (i.e., percent of people with common mental disorders), etc. You should be able to demonstrate your understanding of the concepts by answering practice exam questions correctly.

Memorize EPPP Exam Content
During the EPPP exam you must be able to recall the information you know. This means that you must memorize many of the topics covered by the exam. This is where many examinees get into difficulties. If you cannot recall the psychology topics covered by the exam you will not be able to answer the questions. You cannot demonstrate your knowledge of concepts if you cannot recall the information! This is just basic common sense.

Some people suggest that memorization of the topics covered by the test is not helpful. Their concerns generally seem to be based on a fear that examinees will memorize materials without taking the time to understand them first. It is important to understand, as well as be able to recall, key concepts and details when taking the EPPP test.

Learn Memorization Strategies
Memorization of so much psychology content, from such varied domains can be a daunting task. Topics to commit to memory range from statistical formulas to stages of common psychological theories.

Most of us get little formal trainning in school in how to memorize knowledge. When pressed to remember large amounts of material, such as when studying for the EPPP test, deficits in our memorization skills become apparent. We may have picked up a few strategies to improve our ability to memorize, such as making rhymes, or associating to funny images, but there are many more strategies. Improving your ability to memorize the material will make studying for the test easier and faster.

Unless you have been blessed with a photographic memory, I highly recommend that you purchase and study one of the many excellent book or audio programs available on memory improvement. These books and programs offer many strategies and techniques that can greatly improve your ability to memorize key concepts for the EPPP test.

The relatively short amount of time spent reading a book on improving your memory or listening to an audio program will save you countless hours of review for the EPPP exam. These programs can teach you many techniques to make your memorization of important content much easier.

All of us have certain items that just do not seem to stick to our memory. This is an area where memory techniques really shine. Identify the topics that you keep studying again and again, and yet keep forgetting. Then use one of the many memorization techniques to help you remember the material. This will enable you to recall the knowledge at the crucial moment during the EPPP exam.

Take a few moments now to explore some of the many books, audio programs, and software available to improve your memory at the Amazon EPPP Study Materials Store. You'll be glad you did.
